The mission of IDEAS Institute is to provide solutions that
improve the lives of older adults through the conduct of rigorous
applied research. Our highly respected staff examine the therapeutic
potential of the environmentphysical, social and organizationalas
it relates to frail and impaired older adults.
Serving
older persons, their caregivers, and the community, the IDEAS
Institute seeks to be a premier resource of information for healthcare professionals working with older adults. For example, IDEAS for a Better Visit, funded by the Mt. Sinai Healthcare Foundation, resulted in a nursing home visiting guide for families. IDEAS Institute distributed 1,500 copies free of charge to local long term care facilities. Another project, Meal Time Matters at Home, funded by the Home Instead Senior Care Foundation, provided free training for professional home caregivers to build their skills related to dining, swallowing disorders, and safe feeding assistance.
Our
areas of expertise lie in dementia care, long term care, environmental
design and modifications for older adults and those with dementia,
caregiver /staff education and research. Ingenuity, innovative solutions,
and integrity are core values of the organization.
